Open Enrollment

An effective benefit communication strategy can help ensure that employers and employees get the most from the substantial investment an employer makes in benefits. This has taken on increased importance in light of health care reform requirements, and benefit plan sponsors have even more to consider this year as they prepare for annual open enrollment.

The Benefit Communications section of the Employment Law Manual (ELM) has some useful tips on developing effective and engaging open enrollment communications. Our FAQs provide targeted answers about communication required under the Affordable Care Act including the Summary of Benefits and Coverage and the Notice of Health Care Coverage Options. If an employer is looking to promote wellness program initiatives during annual open enrollment, How to Implement and Manage an Employee Wellness Program and the Health Information and Privacy section of the ELM can provide help in that regard.
