An employer can easily check state requirements for sexual harassment training as well as any related recordkeeping or notice-posting obligations with this new chart.
This new chart details federal and state laws on the recognition of same-sex marriages, civil unions and/or domestic partnerships, and the taxation of the value of benefits provided to an employee's same-sex spouse or civil union or domestic partner.
These summaries of pending employment laws and regulations can help HR stay on top of all changes that will take effect January 1.

Did you know you the XpertHR Best Practice Manual Offers guidance on employment practices that go beyond the letter of the law?
XpertHR knows you need guidance on all types of sensitive and pressing issues, regardless of whether there are any legal precedents to go by. As such, we've compiled the Best Practice Manual to walk you through situations that sit outside of the law books. With concise guides on properly handling issues raised during disciplinary interviews to carefully handling sensitive issues such as transgendered employees, the Best Practice Manual further serves to ensure you're prepared for whatever comes your way.

This will be our last Editor's Choice Newsletter for 2013. It's been an exciting year and we look forward to continuing to help you with your employment challenges in 2014. Here are just a few of the highlights from XpertHR in 2013.
1) Ten new countries were added to our International Manual (Brazil, China, Denmark, Finland, Mexico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Switzerland, Venezuela).
2) Our immigration content was significantly expanded, including new state sections.
3) We increased the frequency of our free webinars to twice monthly, and started offering HRCI credits as well.
4) We hosted our first nine-week Advanced EEO course, worth 13 HRCI credits, presented by EANJ's John Sarno, Esq. (We plan to add another course in 2014.)
5) Three new Liveflo workflows were released: Determine if a Penalty Is Owed Under the Affordable Care Act, Determine if a Non-Union Employee's Activity Is Protected Under the NLRA and Discipline an Employee Using Progressive Discipline.
6) We were honored with four new awards: Awards for Publication Excellence Winner: New Website; Content Marketing Awards: Bronze for Best Overall Editorial for a Website; and SIPAwards: Best Newsletter and Best New Website.

8) We conducted our first benchmarking survey: HR Staffing, Costs and Structure Benchmarks.
9) We released our Employment Glossary of over 1000 HR and employment terms.
And through it all, we provided daily updates on changes to federal and state employment laws nationwide to ensure you remain knowledgeable and compliant.
