Thirty-six! That's how many new or changed requirements came into effect across the US affecting employers on July 1! These new or changed requirements include those at the federal level and also spanned 19 states and six municipalities on topics such as paid sick leave, minimum wage, veterans preference policies, unemployment benefits and E-Verify. These changes are listed succinctly in our Legal Timetable tool and the new requirements have been integrated throughout the site. Watch Editor's Choice for updates on each.

We are also hard at work updating our benefits, payroll, leave, discrimination and other resources in response to the Supreme Court's ruling on same-sex marriage and have updated our wage and hour resources due to the DOL's proposed rule on minimum salary for exempt employees.

What a week!
